Did you know service mode can close itself?

Service mode can close itself, by speed, or by distance driven.
And when it does, StarLine asks for the BT tag or the PIN, to be sure it's the owner driving.
There are two ways for a StarLine system to leave service mode on its own: a certain speed reached, or a certain distance driven. You set the trigger at installation.
And whichever one fires, the system always goes into owner authorisation afterwards: asking for the Bluetooth tag or the PIN code, to be sure it is the owner driving a car that was left in service mode.
That second part is what makes this more than convenience. Keys go to the workshop; the tag stays with the owner. So a car that was driven off in service mode by anyone else is asked, on the move, who is behind the wheel.
