Did you know... you can now see whether your car can "see" your tag?

Your Bluetooth tag protects your car only while the car can't see it.
Now the StarLine 2 app for Android shows whether the tag is inside the zone, so you can set the range yourself: by looking, not guessing.
On a keyless car, the factory key is checked twice: when you touch the door handle and when you press the start button. Thieves can relay both checks: one stands near your house, where the key is lying, the other stands at the car. The door opens, the engine starts, and your car is gone without the key ever leaving the hallway.
StarLine's Bluetooth authorisation is the answer, and it holds: the pairing can't be relayed the way a factory key can. But there's a catch. It protects your car only while the car can't see your tag.
Bluetooth range varies: twenty or thirty metres in open ground, sometimes just one metre in a city full of 2.4 GHz traffic. If you park at a private house with the tag on a hook just inside the door, the system may think you're present all night. The car is then effectively unprotected, and you'd never know.
Now the StarLine 2 app for Android shows it directly:
- Tag shown beside the car: the car sees it. Reduce the range.
- Tag shown crossed out: the car doesn't see it, and your car is protected.
Detection and loss sensitivity each have ten steps. You can finally set them by watching what actually happens, instead of guessing.
Android first. iOS follows later, as the two apps are developed in parallel.
